Sorry for the lack of posts lately, but we've been a little crazy. While Tom's back is healing quite well, he's not up to doing any more open ocean passages and we've decided to ship Warm Rain back to the northern hemisphere. We put her on Dockwise Yacht Transport in Auckland earlier this month and she'll arrive in Mexico where we'll join her shortly.
For those of you unfamiliar with the Dockwise shipping process, I've attached a cool link that shows how the loading process works:
This is a picture of the Super Servant 3, the Dockwise ship that is taking Warm Rain to Mexico:
And here we are driving Warm Rain onto the ship, just as you would drive a boat up to a dock:
This is a picture of Warm Rain up on the hard stands with the water drained out of the Dockwise ship. Notice that all of the stainless steel railings are "candy-cane" wrapped with Saran Wrap and blue tape. We were told to do this because the ship's bunker fuel can pit the stainless steel of railings, etc. We also wrapped the mainsail with rope and tied down the dinghy and everything else on deck.
Hi
This will give you another place to sail again :). When and where will we see you in Mexico in March or April?
We are doing well and hope to see the Sea of Cortez with you.
Muchos Besos
